Water Music (Song for R. Mutt) DVD, 2001.

My work sometimes explores the idea of the decentered author. In the video Water Music (Song for R. Mutt), I set up rules of a system to abide by while making the piece: I chose three holes in the urinal strainer, and assigned a musical tone for each hole. When the water draining through the holes appeared in a certain way, I would edit the tones into the video. An automatic, yet labor-intensive piece of music was created.
